2020 ‘Guidebook of the Year’ (OWPG) – ‘innovative, passionate and detailed – wonderfully inspirational’

Islandeering is the new adventure of circumnavigating tiny islands by walking, running, scrambling, coasteering, or even swimming around their periphery. In this book, use your skills and wit to travel around the outer land edge of 50 secret islands to complete the circuit and bag the island. From Scottish island bagging, to little-known islands in England and Wales.

From Essex, Somerset and Cornwall to Pembrokeshire, Northumberland and the Hebrides; follow wild foreshores, tidal causeways and remote coast paths. Complete each journey to discover a magical archipelago world.

50 islands to bag, with routes from easy to difficult. Detailed directions with GPX downloads.

This book shares my favourite day walks and adventures around 50 islands off mainland Britain and, in the true sense of islandeering, explores the coast along the way. It gives details of sea caves, cliffs and geos to explore, secret beaches, wild swims, and the huge diversity of cultural and wildlife highlights that every island has to offer. (Lisa Drewe, author)

Best islands for wildlife, local food, swimming, wild camping, secret beaches, coasteering, legends and foraging.

Beautiful photography and maps combine with engaging travel which writing charts historical, geographical and wildlife highlights, as well as the author’s own adventures and mishaps.

Tips for coasteering, scrambling, camping, wild swimming and kayaking.

Lisa Drewe has hiked, biked, run, swum and kayaked around over 150 of Britain’s islands and before that spent her adult life exploring the mountains and islands of the world. Initially trained as a biologist, her journey led her to swim with tiger sharks in Oman, dodge gunfire under the Swords of Qadisiyah, and hang from a helicopter over the Sydney Olympic Stadium. Lisa lives in Wiltshire and the Isle of Skye with her husband. She is the chair of the charity, Whale and Dolphin Conservation and is the founder of www.islandeering.com, the website for island obsessives.
